With a few clicks and a bogus e-mail address, Ruth Cassel was able to post on the website lost-and-found.com an old black-and-white class photo found among the personal effects of his father. The posting has one goal only: to help differentiate between the two blondes with hazel eyes pictured in the photo. Marie-Eve and Eve-Marie who were, respectively, the mother of Ruth, and her twin sister, Ruth's aunt, who had died twenty years apart. Almost immediately, as if they had been awaiting this signal, the old members of a dormant group, C3, come back to life. A woman who had once been a great beauty - a retired philosophy professor who had been a friend of the twins, and more importantly, a grandfather Ruth had not suspected existed, come forth, eager to provide answers. It would have ended there, but the photo has revived terrible memories. The e-mails resurrect the memory of a terrible murder which occurred the year Eve-Marie died. It speaks of a serial strangler, the necktie killer. Even more frightening, it casts suspicion upon the one person Ruth loves most in the world: his own father, Martin Cassel.
